Chia Seed Pudding

Chia (Salvia hispanica L.) has been around for over 5500 years and has traditionally been one of the most important components of the diet of the Mayas and Aztecs.

Chia is high in nutrients. It is a good source of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids and soluble fibre. Chia seed pudding is a great low allergen (gluten and dairy free) dessert option that can be enjoyed anytime. Omit the sweetener and add nuts, hemp seeds and fresh fruit for a filling and healthy breakfast.

  • 1/2 cup chia seeds
  • 2 cups dairy free milk (almond, coconut, or rice milk)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup (optional)

  1. Blend or stir all ingredients together and refrigerate for at least 4 overs (I usually leave mine overnight).
  2. I like to omit the maple syrup and sweeten my chia seed pudding with fresh or dried fruit.

Flavour combos:

  • Banana & almond butter
  • Apple, walnuts, cinnamon
  • Apricot & sliced almonds
  • Strawberry, blueberry
  • Hemp seeds, almonds, banana
